Tomorrow Kellie Pickler’s self-titled second album will be released. Since her apperance on American Idol I barely recognize her, since she has changed the way she looks so dramatically. Her fans seem to be excited about the new album because she helped write 5 of her new songs.

I don’t really mind what kind of music is playing when I’m at work as long as it’s not silent in the office. I get less work done if it is completely silent, I think it’s more distracting then a little background noise. A new site that I just found and love now that we are all listening to our own music instead of community radio is deezer. You can make selections of music that you would like to listen to and deezer begins building a playlist of artists who are not famous to pair with the music you have selected. It doesn’t hesitate in between songs or take a long time to load and their music database covers a lot of different types of music.

Nickelback Signed with Live Nation

Nickelback joined signed with Live Nation joining other artists like Madonna, Jay-Z, and Shakira. The new contract is estimated to be worth 50-70 million. Nickelback still owes their current label, Roadrunner Records, 2 albums before they can begin recording for Live Nation.

Coldplay Hosts a Free Concert at Madison Square Garden

Coldplay hosted its third and final free concert last night at Madison Square Gardens. The 70 minute concert consisted of mostly new material from the “Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends,” along with some older hits. Coldplay has recently topped the Billboard top 100 with Viva La Vida.

XM Radio

We’re back to listening to XM radio at the office, we had tried pandora and the regular radio for awhile. They claim no commercials but I’ve definitely heard a commercial for wrecking balm (supposedly a tattoo removing lotion) at least 3 times today. But, I do love the 90s station on XM and I like how the songs don’t seem to repeat too often.

PluggedIn Launched Today

PluggedIn launched today and already has 10,000 videos loaded. You have to download a player but the sound and recording are clear and look really nice. I don’t like the black background when you’re searching for anything on the website because you have to have your mouse over the word to be able to see it. The most popular videos so far are U2’s “Pride (In the Name of Love)” and Afroman’s “Because I Got High.” U2’s video is the only one that has hit 1000 plays so far today.

Leatherheads

George Clooney’s new movie, Leatherheads, didn’t make the grand debut that he was hoping. Opening weekend sales were $13.5 million a disappointment compared to the production cost of $60 million. Opening Weekend the film competed with Kevin Spacey’s Gambling Movie, 21. 21 beat the other debuting films for the second week at number one in the box office.

iBig Box

I can’t think of a time when it would be neccessary or cool to have a monsterous boom box. I thought the idea was the smaller your iPod the cooler you were. The new iBig Box is inflattable and comes with an electrc pump. The iPod weighs 12 pounds and will plug into your iPod or any other media playing device. The new iBig Box sells for $60 and is intact with speakers and fabric controls.

Bands Overlook Wikipedia

In an interesting article written by Reuters discussed the missed opportunity of having a page on Wikipedia. The top three sites that viewers look at when searching for music are the artist’s page, their myspace page, and their Wikipedia entry. Artists seem to spend a great deal of time working on their website and their myspace page but often overlook the Wikipedia entry or a lot of bands don’t even make a Wikipedia entry. Yahoo reported that bands may want to reconsider their priorties when it found that users were more likely to visit a band’s Wikipedia page over their myspace page 2-1.
